2016 Africa Youth Awards Nominations Out

Africa Youth Awards has announced nominations and categories for the 2016 edition.

Nominations, which is opened for a month, will close on the 3rd October 2016, after which submissions will be collated and evaluated by a judging panel, made up of great African Achievers from Africa and across the diaspora.

Finalists will be selected, named and submitted for public voting in November on the Africa Youth Awards website.

Launched in 2014, Africa Youth Awards seeks to highlight the accomplishments of young achievers in the areas of entrepreneurship, art, education, technology, politics, innovation, media, entertainment and humanitarianism. The awards also seek to identify, recognize, and award young Africans who are pursuing excellence, and to create a platform that recognizes, promotes and rewards young achievers because they represent the future of Africa.

Recently, the awards launched its inaugural list of 100 Most Influential Young Africans, which received strong endorsement from President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and other influential Africans which sparked positive debates around the continent about the potential and role of young people.

Notable among previous winners are Ashish Thakkar, Sara Nana Yeboah, Aya Chebbi, Cyrille Guel, Ahmed Adamu, Bitania Lulu Berhanu, Kelvin Macharia Kuria, Umar Krupp and Richard Paa Kofi Botchway.

Nominations can be submitted via www.africayouthawards.org/nominees-registration/. Eligible nominees are young Africans who are blazing the trail in various change driven sectors of the economy, of the continent and their various countries.

21. Social Entrepreneur of the Year
22. Startup of the Year
23. Award for Agriculture
24. Award for Technology
25. Award for Finance
26. International Prize (for non-Africans)
