2018 World Cup Qualifier: Uganda Start Training Saturday

Black Stars World Cup qualifier opponents, Uganda Cranes, will officially start training this Saturday ahead of the two upcoming matches.

The Cranes will engage the Hawks of Togo in an international friendly on Tuesday, 4th October before battling it out with Ghana on Friday.

Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic explains his sides’ plans ahead of the encounters.

“We have limited time to prepare. Training starts on Saturday with the early bird arrivals from South Africa and Vietnam. We have domestic league on Saturday, so we expect to have the other local players on Sunday.

“The South African based crop of Khalid Aucho, Geoffrey Massa (Baroka), Hamis Kiiza (Free State Stars) apart from Mamelodi Sundowns’ Dennis Onyango is expected to be part of the Saturday training.

“These will be joined by Vietnam based Geoffrey Baba Kizito, Vipers’ Erisa Ssekisambu, Halid Lwaliwa, Isma Watenga and the KCCA duo of Benjamin Ochana and Joseph Ochaya”, he said.

“A bulk of foreign based players will fly directly to Lome where the team will assemble on Monday, 3rd October 2016 before a general training session ahead of the international friendly match with Togo the following day.

“The team will then travel to Ghana for their first Group E match against Ghana in Tamale City on Friday, 7th October 2016”, he added.
