Access Bank Launches Shop And Ship Service In Ghana

Access bank in partnership with the shipping company, Aramex has launched a shop and ship service aimed at making it convenient for Ghanaians to purchase items from shops around the world and have them directly delivered to them in Ghana.

Until now, people have had to rely on relatives and friends coming from the locations of their desired shopping centres to bring their shopping items as most online retail shops do not ship to Ghana.

Speaking on behalf of Mr Dolapo Ogundimu, Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana, Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, Head of Exclusive Banking said the bank was committed to raising the standards of customer experience through its digital banking strategy hence the decision to partner with Aramex to deliver shopping convenience to its customers.

She explained that banks now have to deal with an increasing number of sophisticated customers due to the availability and access to the internet on portable digital devices, including smart phones and tablets as well as payment options through online, debit and credit cards.

Therefore “We believe that Banking in this digital world should be extra convenient for our customers and the banking public, which is why we are putting ourselves at the forefront of this transformation,” she added.

She said, “E-commerce has made little headway in Ghana despite the growth in bridging the ICT gap. With the Shop & Ship service, we’re creating more opportunities for the industry to thrive while helping customers to have the freedom to shop from anywhere in the world”

Mrs Asante-Asiedu also added that customers who register on the service within the first six months will get a 50 per cent discount off the registration charge.

Aramex Regional Manager for West Africa, Mr Samer Hajjar expressed optimism at the strategic partnership.

According to him, the service will unlock a huge potential for growth in the transport and logistics industry adding that customers stand to benefit from Hassle free delivery and Competitive Courier rate.

“We are excited to be partnering with Access Bank. This agreement reflects our commitment to further growing the e-commerce sector and provide more customers with a highly efficient and convenient online shopping solution.”

“It is an example of how we are helping to better connect online shoppers to e-tailers from around the world, in line with our commitment to facilitating global trade, to meet the increasing demand for global online shopping delivery solutions and to support e-tailers to grow their business,” he said.
