Staff and pupils of Aflao Border Basic School and the Preventive Basic School at Aflao border in the Volta Region are calling on government to rescue them from the dangers posed by their dilapidated school structures.
The schools which were established in the early 1950s, are the oldest of basic schools in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.
However the schools since its establishments have not seen any rehabilitation. Management of both schools some years back turned it into wooden structures which are currently giving way and posing threat to students.
The roofs have all worn out. The schools close for pupils to go home anytime it is about to rain.
This according to authorities is hampering effective teaching and learning.
The schools management say several appeals for an intervention from government have not yielded any result.
The classrooms are also congested to the discomfort of students. Many are worried the current state of the school, since it paints a bad picture of the country considering that they are located on the entry point of the country.
The management of the schools are calling on government and benevolent citizens and organizations to come to their aid.
