Ghanaian boxer Joseph King Kong Agbeko has vowed to win a world title this year (2016).
The former IBF bantamweight champion who has won 30 (23 on knock-outs) out of 35 bouts with only 5 losses, dethroned Luis Alberto Perez to the title on September 29, 2007.
King Kong successfully defended his global accolade by scoring a unanimous decision win over former two division champion Vic Darchinyan on July 11, 2009. He however lost his IBF bantamweight title by 12 round unanimous decision to unbeaten (20-0) Colombian challenger Yonnhy Pérez on Halloween night in October 31, 2009.
Speaking to Let’s Go host Yaw Ampofo Ankrah on Radio XYZ, Agbeko assures Ghanaians of a world title this year.
“Definitely I will win a world title this year there is going to a world title this year,” Agbeko told Yaw Ampofo Ankrah on the Let’s Go show on Radio XYZ. “2016 is going to be a very bright and the best year for me in boxing”
“This year my kids made a video for me-wishing me happy new year and showed me how much they believe in me and they want me to win a world title at all cost this year so we can celebrate together so I’m going to fulfil their wish.”
“My team is working very hard to keep me very active possibly there will be three to four fights this year, Agbeko concluded.
