Anyidoho : Nana Addo Must Stop Running Away From IEA

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has challenged the 2016 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to desist from the dilly dallying and honor the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Evening encounter.

Speaking Friday, Koko Anyidoho, a Deputy General Secretary of the NDC tasked Nana Akufo-Addo to attend the Evening Encounter and “…give us [Ghanaians] something substantive. Even if it is a dog meat factory that you will establish, go to the IEA and tell us that you will build a dog meat factory.”

The IEA Thursday announced the abandonment of its Evening Encounter with the NPP flag bearer stating that they “…regret to inform the general public and all of our invited guests that the IEA Evening Encounter with Hon. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo scheduled for 9 August 2016 has been postponed until further notice.”

This is the second time the IEA has called off the evening session with the former attorney general after an initial date in July also failed to pull through.

Dr Edward Mahama and Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet the presidential candidates of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and the Convention People’s Party (CPP), respectively have honored the event.

Mr. Anyidoho whose party boycotted the IEA platform, reacting to the IEA’s statement in a conversation with a private radio station ACCRA FM said Nana Addo is avoiding the IEA platform because he lacks the technical know-how on his one-factory-per district pledge.

“…Nana Addo has no message,” he declared, noting, “…If he goes there, he would be asked how he intends to build his factory in every district. He has no plan, so he is scared of the questions that he will be asked because he will be put to strict proof, he will be put to the test…live on television with everybody watching.”

But the NPP explained that they are avoiding the IEA evening encounter because the party’s manifesto is “quite not ready.”

But, Mr. Anyidoho has other ideas saying, ”…the NPP has no message; the flagbearer has no manifesto, so they think that they can use the EC as their campaign message to continue to deceive their supporters that the EC is rigging the elections for the NDC.”
