Anyidoho : There’ll Be chaos If PNC Loses December Polls

The vice-presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Emmanuel Anyidoho, has warned that there will be chaos in the country if his party loses the December general elections.

Speaking in an interview on Class FM, Mr. Anyidoho stated that the government hasn’t done much to improve the livelihood of Ghanaians and could likely lead to an Arab spring if the NDC government is retained.

“There is a looming menace behind us. Everybody heard about the Arab Spring, it’s already looming in the background…I’m not predicting chaos. What I am saying is that if the right things are done, we can stop any chaos and that means that if [the PNC] is voted in power, we will do the right things which will reduce disaffection in the system.”

The Harvard-trained economist added, “the right thing is when the PNC wins the election because we are offering a completely new deal to the people of Ghana. We want to restore this economy to the glorious days of Nkrumah.”

Mr. Anyidoho added: “I am not a prophet but the point is it [chaos] could happen. Around March and thereabout, there was OccupyGhana, Kumepreko (demonstrations), there were so many agitations from the TUC etc. Now there is a law and everybody’s hope is in the elections.

“Now there is a possibility that the PNC is going to win and if the PNC wins, the possibility of chaos will go away.”

Arab Spring refers to the democratic uprisings that arose independently and spread across the Arab world in 2011.

The movement originated in Tunisia in December 2010 and quickly took hold in Egypt, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan.
