Tribal Heads and Regent of The Ashaiman Municipality said they are saddened by the refusal of the President John Dramani Mahama, to respond to their grievances when he paid a courtesy call on them as part of his “Accounting To The People’s Tour” in The Greater Accra Region.
According to them, The President only came to solicit for votes forgetting the earlier promises, he made to the residents of the Municipality. Speaking to XYZ News, The Regent of The area, Nii Ananng Adzor, said, The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, got the attention of the President destructed when he was informing the President of the challenges facing the Municipality.
He stressed that, the Chiefs are being taken for granted due to their limitations in commenting on matters of political discourse. According to the Chief, The President Mahama, during 2012 promised the municipality of an ultra modern hospital to befit its current status.
He lament that, the Municipality is in dire need of land for development but the Free Zones Board has taken hostage of the Community 21 land which is currently lieing fallow.
Nii Adzor, reckoned that land should be released to the Municipal Assembly to enable them embark on developmental projects to decongest the area.
Sounding quiet embittered, he said, the Ashaiman has been of the national cake in spite of its commitment to The National Democratic Congress.
However, sources within the assembly has revealed that The President has ordered The Regional Coordinating Council and the Municipal Chief Executive Ibrahim Baidoo, to convey a meeting between The Tribal Heads and Regent of The Municipality, to find lasting solutions, leading to the release of the Community 21 land for development.
