The Ashaiman Divisional Police Command has gun down a 27year old armed robber for an attempted robbery at Christian Village a suburb of Ashaiman.
The act, according to the police, occurred this dawn after several distress call was made to the police by residents of the area.
The deceased whose name was given as Daniel Doodou, commonly referred to as Papa Dany according to the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Juliana Obeng, is an ex-convict from the Nsawam Medium Prisons.
Briefing the media on the fact of the case, ASP Juliana Obeng, noted that, the deceased broke into a house near Tema International School, to rob off occupants of the house.
He stressed that, upon reaching the scene, the police politely admonished that(he) surrender. But upon sensing danger, the deceased begun opening fire which angered the police and in return exchanged fire, and subsequently resulted in his death.
According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Juliana Obeng, a search conducted on him, revealed a locally manufactured pistol and live cartridges. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased is pending autopsy at the Police Morgue.
In a related development, The Night Motor Patrol Team of The Tema Regional Police Command this dawn, chanced on a two suspected armed robber. The suspect fled upon seeing the police and left behind a black polythene bag containing (14) fourteen live cartridges, (2)two locally manufactured pistols, a short burrel gun, a touch light and a black pull over dress.
The Police has launched a manhunt leading to the arrest of the two suspected armed robber.
