Ayariga files nomination for APC flagbearership race

Founder of the All People’s Congress (APC) Hassan Ayariga Monday May 23 filed his nomination to contest in his party’s presidential primaries.

Dr Ayariga became the only candidate to contest the presidential primaries after the deadline expired on Monday May 23.

Speaking at the party headquarters at Haatso, Accra, Monday, Dr Ayariga said the ACP was formed to give everyone equal opportunity to contest for the highest position in the party.

“Being the founder and leader of the party, I believe in democracy and I believe Ghana needs to give everyone the opportunity and equal platform to demonstrate to the world that together we can build a better nation and for that reason the APC was formed,” he stated.

“The APC was formed to give everyone, irrespective of your political standing, the opportunity to serve our motherland. We believe in an all-inclusive governance concept, we believe that given the opportunity, Ghana will be better than where we are. So, when we formed this party, we opened nomination for everybody because we think that everyone is part of this party, so we should equally give the same platform to everyone.”

Dr Ayariga noted that the APC believed in the youth and if voted into office, he will create opportunities for the youth to develop the country.

He continued: “…Ghana needs to understand that a new political party has emerged. It has emerged because it wants the youth to believe in themselves that given the opportunity they can do wonders and this is the party created to give opportunity to the young men and women out there to build the better Ghana that we are all looking for.”

However, the party is unclear on the date for the presidential primaries which was earlier scheduled to take place on the 28th of May, 2016.
