The District Head Pastor of the Apostolic Church Ghana in the Sene East District of the Brong Ahafo Region and his church elder were shot and killed by armed men on the morning of Sunday April 24.
The duo, Overseer Essien Sackey and Elder Ampaw, were murdered in cold blood on the Atebubu-Kumasi highway on their way to Mampong in the Ashanti Region on 24th April, 2014.
An eyewitness who escaped from the scene, identified as Kwabena Manu, narrated to XYZ News that the deceased were on a motorbike and ordered to stop at the spot where the robbers were carrying out their operation on the highway.
He indicated that “because of the speed, they went further before stopping, and the armed robbers thought they were trying to run away and they shot at them”.
Reports from other witnesses suggest that the robbers also shot at other cars which refused to stop and took monies from some of the victims plying the road after ordering them to lie down and surrender their possessions.
ASP George Antwi, who is the District Head of Operations for Sene, has confirmed the incident as investigation commences into the matter.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the hospital pending autopsy.
