Black Maidens Cash Strapped, Run Out Of Sanitary Pads

The National Women’s Under-17 football team, the Black Maidens, have run out of sanitary pads and other essentials ,Press Attaché to the team, William Bossman has confirmed.

The Black Maidens won their second group game against USA on Tuesday coming back a goal down to win 2 – 1. The victory comes after they were humiliated 5-0 at the hands of Japan in their opening game on Saturday.

However, speaking with in an interview on Wednesday, Bossman said, the team is cash strapped and needs money to purchase certain essentials including sanitary pads for the ladies.

“You know at this time of the month the girls would need sanitary pads and other things…so I can confirm that, yes we are short of things like that,” Bossman said.

Bossman also confirmed that management committee chairman of the Black Maidens Augustine Asante financed the purchase of certain essentials needed to provide comfort for the ladies.

According to him, an accountant of the Sports Ministry who is expected to join the team is yet to arrive in Jordan.

The Black Maidens will play Paraguay in a must win game on Saturday to ensure their progress to the knockout stage of the tournament.
