Chelsea, Medeama Up For Sale

Two Ghana Premier League sides Berekum Chelsea and Medeama SC are up for sale due to heavy financial burden on the club owners.

Berekum Chelsea’s financier and co-owner, Emmanuel Kyeremeh, abandoned the club some three years ago to settle in Canada due to the consistent pressure on his finances.

After his departure the club’s CEO, Nana Kwame Nketiah, managed the shocks till this year’s end of season in the GPL.

But a close source to the cash constrained Nketiah says a majority share holder should be possible if a shareholder option is not possible before the new season starts.

Medeama owner, Moses Armah Parker, says he will be giving the first option to sponsors Goldfields Ghana Darmang and Ghana Manganese Company (GMC) so the club remains in the community even when sold.

“I want to sell Medeama to any interested investor. I’m not interested in partners who want to buy percentage shares,” he said.

Both teams represented Ghana in Africa after winning the elite league and the FA Cup respectively.

Chelsea was originally known as Samraka FC with Medeama also formerly known as Kessben FC.
