The Eastern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police Angwubutoge Awuni, has died.
He died at the Police Hospital in Accra after a short illness, police sources confirmed.
Eastern Regional Police PRO, ASP James Abass, said he was transferred to the Police Hospital, from the region.
He had been on admission for a few days before he was pronounced dead.
He was recently transferred to the Eastern Region as Commander by Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor.
He had been heading the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service.
The late Awuni was known for his honest and frank talk and had several brushes with political authorities.
