Don’t go to Court for redress, Lawyer Annan advises assault victim

A private Legal practitioner, Lawyer David Annan has advised Daniel Amponsah, who allegedly put a 15 year-old girl in the family way, not to seek redress, in court after receiving a severe beating from the father of the girl.

“My legal advise to the so-called victim, is that, he shouldn’t take any legal action. “If he does, do you know the charge that will be levelled against him? How old is the girl 15. So what charge? Defilement!!”.

According to him, defilement is equivalent to rape, and it is a non bailable offence. “In fact the punishment for it, can be equated to a first degree felony offence”.

His advise follows, a report that, a 17-year-old Junior High School student, Daniel Amponsah is struggling for his life after he was reportedly injured by the headmaster, of Asuanoa L/A Junior High School, for allegedly dating and impregnating his 15-year-old daughter.

The victim was hit with a club, by the headmaster, and he is currently in coma and on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Daniel Amponsah and the headmaster’s daughter, Dorothy Felicia Amankwa, are students at the Asuanoa L/A JHS.

Their relationship had been kept a secret, until the pregnancy came in. The headmaster, Daniel Asenso, who was infuriated, after his daughter named the victim, as the one responsible for her pregnancy, allegedly pounced on him and hit him, with the club.

Mr. David Annan, said, the parents of Daniel Amponsah, must take steps to handle the issue at the family level, to avert any unforeseen complications, should they go to Court.
