One Hearts of Oak supporter has died following the epic encounter between Asante Kotoko and the Phobian club on Monday May 2, 2016.
The deceased, whose name was given as Alhaji Car Owner, was in the stands at the Accra Sports Stadium, the venue of Monday’s game.
According to Abdul Aziz Haruna Futah of Hearts of Oak’s ‘Chapter O’ Supporters Union, in an interview, the man suddenly took ill moments before kick-off and was attended to by the stadium’s medical team, who later rushed him to the Ridge Hospital.
But Haruna said he received a call from the hospital on the morning of Tuesday May 3, 2016 that Alhaji Car Owner had died from high blood pressure.
The late Hearts fan will be buried Tuesday May 3 in accordance with Islamic tradition at Madina, near Accra.
