Kwame Dennis: Comment Regarding The Reduction In Electricity Tariff

A Former National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for Sini in the Brong-Ahafo Region, Twumasi Appiah, has taken a swipe at his Government and for that matter President Mahama, on his recent comment regarding the reduction in electricity tariff.

According to The Former Legislator, The President was wrong. He stressed that, whether the reduction was a re-alignment or subsidy, it will further create problems for The Government.

The NDC law maker again reckoned that, the reduction is rather aimed at benefitting the rich at the expense of the poor essentially those living in the rural community.

But speaking on The Analyst, a Member of The NDC Communications Team, Kwame Dennis, said, one’s inability to comprehend with issues must not create any form of confusion.

According to him, The President comments on the electricity tariff, flaws that of the Energy Minister and the Electricity Company of Ghana.

So if through to his words these things has been done and he says it is the realignment that I promise and its implemented why must anybody doubt his truth of the matter is that what the president says, it’s not about somebody’s misunderstand of the doings of the government. Somebody’s misunderstanding of issues does not create any form of confusion, it’s simply by misunderstanding.

It is not always that you will get it the way you are putting it.

He says that as we sit here I can explain government policies in my own way and get it wrong. And what will put some finality to what have gotten wrong is when my minister have come to speak or the president comes to speak to the issue, if he was smart, let assume its subsidies and he does not want to use the word subsidy for the IMF to understand, why will he wait for me to come out to say subsidy before he comes to correct that.

What is why am saying that is somebody’s misunderstanding. After ECG has collected the bills there are component that will go to the government and if the government is saying realigning this part and let this go back to the consumer because this tax has been reviewed what is wrong with it.
