The Ghana Education Service has directed all schools in the Akuapem Traditional Area to be closed down.
The directive was given following a request by the Akuapem Traditional Council for the closure of schools in the area, for the burial of their departed Paramount Chief, Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III.
The Public Relations Officer of the GES, Rev. Jonathan Bettey speaking on an Accra-based Radio station, said the move is to ensure the safety of the children.
In 1974, Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III was installed the Paramount Chief of the Akuapem Traditional Area. Until his demise six month ago, he was the President of the Akuapem Traditional Council, member of Eastern Regional House of Chiefs and member of National House of Chiefs.
