The Ghana Armed Forces has assured the nation of their readiness to ensure that there is peace, before, during and after the November, 7, general elections.
The Forces, has re-affirmed its commitment to protect, the territorial integrity, and also ensure internal peace and security in Ghana.
Speaking at the media interaction session at the Burma Camp, Chief Of Defence Staff, Air Marshal, Michael Sampson Oje, noted that, his men, and Allied Security Agencies will continue to play their neutral and non-partisan role, in support of the up-coming elections, he urged the media not to endanger, the current stability Ghana is enjoying, for anything.
Speaking to Journalists for the first time, since his appointments, especially, in the electioneering year, The Man, in charge of soldiers, never minced his words at all.
He walked the media through their core duty of ethical journalism, and above all, professionalism at all times, in order not to decompose their motherland, Ghana.
As the 2016, election approaches, The Chief Of Defence Staff, Air Marshal, Michael Sampson Oje, advised media practitioners to be careful and report only, what is verified and balanced.
According to him, the power of the media can make or unmake a nation. The IGP, John Kudalor, in his statement said, The Police and Sister-Security Agencies will discharge their mandate, without fear or favour.
President of The Ghana Journalists’ Association, Affail Monney, reiterated, their commitment, to continuously organize, special training workshops for journalists, and political reporters on dos and don’ts, on election reportage.
The Managing Consultant, Radio XYZ Ghana Limited and a renowned Broadcaster, Godwin Avenorgbor, was grateful to The Military High Command, for the initiative, but suggested regular interactions, with the media, so as to showcase, how friendly they are, when it comes to security issues.
The interaction brought together, The Military High Command, Senior Officers from The Police, Editors, Managing Editors, Senior Reporters and Presenters. Their aim-to collectively achieve a conflict free-election this year.
