Ghana Inaugurates Women In Aviation Chapter

The Ghana Chapter of the Women in Aviation has been inaugurated with a call on the Association to rope in more women in the sector.

Inaugurating the chapter, a deputy Minister of Transport Joyce Bawa Mogtari said she wants women to defy the odds and occupy leading positions in the aviation sector.

“If we want to take advantage in the sector you must take up challenges,” she stressed.

Ghana becomes the 101 chapter of the global body.

The president of the Ghana Chapter of WAI, Juliet Boagye Wiafe, said efforts are underway to whip up the interest of girls in the aviation sector with an outreach programme in the various schools.

She said: “We are currently reaching out to other women bodies to create awareness on the aviation sector.”

Women in Aviation, International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing networking, education, mentoring and scholarship opportunities for women (and men) who are striving for challenging and fulfilling careers in the aviation and aerospace industries.
