Ghana Out Of U-17 Women’s World Cup

The Black Maidens of Ghana failed to progress to the semi-finals of the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after losing by 2-1 to Korea DPR at the King Al Hassan Stadium in Irbid, Jordan Thursday.

Ghana’s coach Adotey made two changes in his regular starting line up due to injuries ahead of the game.

The Koreans scored through a spot kick after Ghana’s Grace Acheampong pulled the jersey of Kim Ju Song in the penalty box for the first goal to be registered by Pom Ui in the 34th minute.

The game balanced till the first half ended in favour of the Koreans. But with new injections from the Black Maidens bench they equalized with just nine minutes to end proceedings.

With just a minute to end the three minutes of time added on, the Ghanaians lost consideration and through a goal mouth melee the Koreans progressed to the semi-final stage with a late goal from Ja Un Jong on the 94th minute.

The Black Maidens are expected in the country latest by Monday.
