Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo has urged new voters to take part in the EC’s limited voter registration which began Thursday April 28 nationwide.
“I encourage all first time voters to participate in this limited registration exercise,” Nana AKufo-Addo said in a tweet.
The limited voter registration exercise is to register eligible Ghanaians 18 years and above whose names are not on the electoral roll.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has said materials for the exercise have been sent to all regional and district offices across the country. “They have been distributed and they have been tested,” EC Chair Charlotte Osei said in a press conference.

The EC is expecting to register about 1.2 million new voters.
The EC has stressed that the exercise is not a replacement exercise for people who have lost their cards but for those who are 18 years and above and have never registered.
Qualified persons who do not register will be unable to vote in the November 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The exercise ends on May 8.
