Chartered Economist and a Senior Lecturer at The University of Cape Coast Business School Dr. John Gatsi, has urged Government to explore other innovative ways in tackling job creation in The Country.
According to figures from The Ghana Statistical Service, Unemployment Rate in Ghana averaged 8.82 percent from 2001-2013, reaching an all time high of 12.9 percent in 2005.
Earlier, The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, described the growing Unemployment situation in The country, as a crisis and a National Security Threat.
Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama is expected to interact with Students of The University of Cape Coast, today, 05-05-16 “Accounting To The People Tour” in The Central Region], on the need to be self employed without waiting for Government’s intervention.
But speaking in an interview with XYZ News, Dr. John Gatsi, noted that, it’s high time Government come up with new policies to address this canker.
“I think we need to be more creative not to be thinking of job creation only using the traditional approach where huge industries are established to employ people.
Those are things I am expecting him to say” The Central Region is the fifth Region The President has visited so far as part of his “Accounting To The People Tour”.
