Match day 17 of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) is on Wednesday June 29 with some great fixtures across the league centres.
In Accra, Dansoman-based side Liberty Professionals will engage Sergio Traguil’s Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra sports stadium. Liberty, the home team, this time, have decided to move the game from the Carl Reindoph Park to the Accra Sports Stadium to accommodate a large fan base to witness the game. Liberty won the first leg at the same venue and will be hoping to do a double over the Phobians, but Hearts are also brimming with confidence after winning their last game against Dreams FC at the same grounds.
At the Baba Yara sports stadium, revenge would surely be on the minds of the Kotoko faithful as they play host to league leaders WA All Stars. The first ended in favour of the Wa-based club courtesy a solitary strike by Richard Arthur. Kotoko managed a draw in their last outing with Techiman while their opponents edged out Berekum Chelsea at the Wa Park. All Stars themselves have a motive of remaining at the top of the table and will look to give Kotoko a hard game. Kumasi Asante Kotoko might be without the services of midfielder Theophilus Nyame, who sustained an injury in last week’s game at Techiman.
Aduana will play host to Ebusua Dwarfs at the Dormaa Park and will be eager to get back to winning ways after losing to Bechem United last week. They are 4th and could move to 2nd with a win. Relegation-threatening Dwarfs will be looking to continue their impressive form under coach Prosper Nartey. Dwarfs have picked up a respectable eight points from a possible 15 in their last five Premier league games, a sequence that has seen them climb to 14th position on the log with 17 points.
At Dawu, Dreams FC will be hoping to pick up their seventh win of the season against New Edubiase, whom they beat in the first leg by a lone goal. Dreams may miss their top scorer Lawson Bekui who is recuperating from injury.
AshantiGold have only picked up a meager 16 points in the league this season and are involved in a relegation battle. They play Techiman City at the Len Clay Park and cannot afford to drop points at home.
Other games will see Berekum Chelsea play Inter Allies at the Golden City Park in Berekum and Hasaacas facing off against Bechem United behind closed doors at the Essipong stadium.
Medeama and WAFA’s game will not come off as Medeama is facing Mo Bejaia in a CAF confederation cup match at the Essipong Stadium.
