Black stars defender, Rashid Sumaila has refute allegations levelled against him by a spiritualist for using
“juju” on fellow center back, Jerry Akaminko prior to the 2014 FIFA world cup.
Eskişehirspor defender, Akaminko, was injured in Ghana’s final pre-world cup friendly match against the Oranje of Netherlands. The injury saw the ex- Hearts of Lions lynch pin lose out on selection to the mundial. Years later, Mallam Isaku Salia, a spiritualist has attributed the injury to his works but based on consultation with Rashid Sumaila. Salia claims the now Qadsia SC player has failed to pay him for the service. Hence, the confession.
Sumaila, 23, has however debunk these accusations on Kyzz Fm in Takoradi.
“I’m shocked. I am a good Muslim and pray five times a day with clean heart. If I have something doing [spiritually], I will rather use it to reach the highest level. I don’t think badly about my friend. I was very sad when he [Akaminko] got injured prior to the world cup. Am still sad about it”.Sumaila clarified.
“The man who is saying these things, I don’t have anything to tell him. But he should work well. I know he is lying.”
“I don’t ever remember using “juju”. What is that? He should bring his witness and I will meet him with God. I don’t have that time. He should be careful. If he has nothing doing, he should not use my name for attention.” The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender concluded.
