The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Issac Ashai Odamtten, has rubbished media reports, of abandoning the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, which was initiated by the immediate past Metropolitan Chief Executive of the area, Kempes Papa Nii Ofosuware.
According to him, the project has been categorized into phases, hence The Assembly is yet to commence with the second phase of the project. The soft spoken Politician said, The Assembly is committed to finishing all unfinished projects within the Metropolis. He added that, the project when completed will help increase the assembly’s Internally Generated Fund.
He affirmed that, the project, shall have a unique technology that will enable non-residents and residents alike to access the cultural and rich history of Tema. Speaking in an interview, he added that, the project forms part of glorifying the good deeds of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the role he played in the development of Tema, hence the name “Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park”. Explaining the rationale behind the delay, he said, like all Assemblies and other Corporate Institutions, limited funding has inhibited The Tema Metropolitan Assembly, from completing the project as planned.
He stressed that, the just ended General Assembly Meeting of his Assembly, captured the Memorial Park, as part of key developmental agenda of the Metropolis therefore the project will start in no time. The amiable MCE stated that, those who sought to play politics with the Park are simply being disingenuous and not appreciating recognition.
