The former Propaganda Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress, and MP for Keta, Richard Quashigah, said, the Government has reneged on its promise, to extend water to the people of Anyako and its environs, by March this year.
According to him, this Government has failed the people of Keta Constituency, and if care is not taken, it many have an effect, on the up-coming election.
His comments follow the “unsatisfactory” answer given by the Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Isaac Adjei Mensah, on the Floor Of Parliament today.
In answer to the question: What plans the Ministry has to extend pipe-borne water, from Keta, to the following Communities: Beach areas of Dzelukope, Tettehkope, Tettevikope, Nukpesekope and Lagoon side of Vui?
The Minister said, the Government has no money to support the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), to carry out such a Project.
According to him, “What has caused the delay in executing this Project is the issue of unavailability of funds. I wish to assure the Hon.
MP for Keta that, immediately funds are available, the GWCL will implement the Project to ensure that the communities are supplied with potable water”. A situation, Mr. Quashigah described as unfortunate and disappointing.
