Kelechi’ll become a top class player:Toure

Four-time African player of the year, Yaya Toure, is hopeful Nigerian teenager, Kelechi Iheanacho, will become a top class player in future.

“I am close to him and I will continue to push him up…. I know what I have done to be here today… and I want my younger brothers coming through to get there one day…. I hope Kelechi would be one of the top players in the future,” Yaya Touré said in an interview with Class Sports’ Kwame Dwomoh Agyemang.

Kelechi is Yaya Toure’s teammate at Manchester City, where both players ply their trade.

The 19-year-old was promoted to City’s senior team for the 2015/2016 season after making appearances for Manchester City’s U-21 team.

He made his competitive debut as a substitute for Raheem Sterling for the final minute of a 2–0 win over Watford at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Kelechi scored his first competitive goal on 12 September 2015, when he came in as a substitute to Wilfried Bony, in an away game at Crystal Palace, and scored the only goal of the game. The young striker is one of the most promising stars in the English league.
