Kumasi central market on fire, 100 shops burnt

The Kumasi Central market in the Ashanti Region on Friday morning was gutted by fire.

More than 100 shops are reported to have been burnt with properties worth millions of Ghana cedis lost in the inferno.

Portion of the market some months ago was razed down. About 250 shops at the time were reduced into ashes crashing the hopes of the victims mostly traders who were rendered jobless.

It is unknown what might have caused the the latest fire.

At the time of filing this report, fire fighters had arrived at the scene to douse the fire.

The market women were spotted crying over their monies and lost properties.
