Ladies of the cross marks Int. Women’s Day

The Founder and President for Ladies of the Cross International Ministries, Rev. Dr. Gifty Lamptey, has called for a collective effort for gender equity in the country.

Speaking at an event, to commemorate the International Women Day, Rev. Dr. Gifty Lamptey, said every woman needs to empower herself.

She noted that the day is for reflecting, celebrating and empowering women in order to achieve UN agenda 2030 especially Sustainable Development Goal 4.

Rev. Dr. Gifty Lamptey, said, the celebration of International Women’s Day, marks a call to action for acceleration of gender parity.

According to her, the day is to reflect on progress made to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played enormous roles in the history of their community or country.

The day according to Rev. Dr. Gifty Lamptey is also to reflect on the challenges that lie ahead in pursuit of safe guarding and protecting Women’s Rights. She encouraged women to be take up challenges and bring out the best in them to enable them. She called for peace during this election year and urged all to be ambassadors of peace.

The Chairperson of the occasion, Princess Assie Ocansey called for oneness among all since women are at the suffering end anytime there is violence in a country.

The Head of Mission African Union Diaspora African Forum, H.E Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett, encouraged women to celebrate one another and each other keepers.

Prof. David Agbe, Executive Director of Ghana Institute of Governance And Security said women need to tell their own stories to encourage each other.

Ladies of the Cross International is an organization which aims at empowering women to be self-sufficient, know their social and legal standings in society. The event saw ladies from all walks of life partaking in the event.
