The lead Counsel for Carlos Ahenkorah’s Legal Team, Kwasi Blay, has expressed shock at the way The NPP is handling the on-going case at the Accra High Court.
According to him, The New Patriotic Party, The Second Defendant in the case, is working with the Plaintiff in court, to have the first Defendant, Carlos Ahenkorah, The Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for Tema West, to be disqualified, because he is not an indigene, of the area.
The plaintiff, Nana Yaw Ntim, suspected to be a supporter of the defeated sitting MP, Irene Naa Torshie Addo, filed a suit against Carlos Ahenkorah, praying the court to disqualify him as a parliamentary candidate of The NPP.
In his statement of claim, he said, Mr. Ahenkorah was not a registered voter in the Tema West Constituency, at the time of the conduct of the NPP Primary. The petition also called for his disqualification, on the grounds that, he is not a Ga indigene, yet contested in a Coastal Community.
But speaking to XYZ News, after proceedings, in court Lawyer Blay, noted that his client, never acted contrary to The NPP rules, as alleged, by The Plaintiff. He, said, The NPP, filing in support of The Plaintiff, means, The Party does not like Mr. Ahenkorah.
According to him, justice will not elude The First Defendant in the person of Carlos Ahenkorah. Meanwhile, The Presiding Judge, Justice Norvisi Aryene, has set 23rd May, 2016 for the adoption of proceedings.
