Margins Group, a high security Identity Management company is among the few private companies in Ghana to sign for the world’s largest Corporate sustainability initiative “United Nations Global Compact” and to pursue one of the United Nations seventeen eminent Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The group signed up for goal nine, which means the company will take concrete steps to support the global effort in building resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
The SDGs adopted by world leaders at the UN Sustainable Development Summit on 25th September, 2015 represents a commitment by all nations to work together to end poverty, achieve shared prosperity, build peace, secure a life of dignity and a healthy planet for present and future generations.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Frank Oye, Executive Director of the Margins Group explained that by voluntarily subjecting itself to the tenets of the goals, Margins Group was contributing to the success of developing resilient infrastructure, sustainable industrialization and promoting innovation to support the SDGs. He said the company will incorporate the principles into its corporate practices.
He remarked that, “the initiative presents an unprecedented opportunity for the company to align its business and sustainability goals with the SDGs. They provide the company with the mechanism for innovation and new market opportunities to facilitate business growth.”
“We are excited that we have an opportunity to contribute to this global initiative because of the several positive impacts this has on our society,” he said.
He called on other private sector organizations to show more interest in initiatives such as this to better impact society.
