Medeama SC advance in Confederation Cup

Medeama Sporting Club defeated Mamelodi Sundowns by 2-0 at the Essipong Stadium to advance to the group Phase of the CAF Confederation Cup on away goals Wednesday.

The Yellow and Mauves scored their first goal through Malik Akowah in the 35th with a spot kick and made it made two in the second half courtesy a Bernard Ofori’s strike in the 65th minute to end the battle on a 3-3 aggregate.

In the dying embers of the game goalie Oyango of Sundowns was sent off for a cynical tackle for the Brazillians to end the game with ten men.

Medeama lost by 3-1 two weeks ago in South Africa at Atteridgeville Stadium.

The draw for the group phase of the tournament will be held in Cairo on 24 May.
