Nana Addo Urges Muslims: Pray For Peaceful, Tranparent Elections

Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for 2016 polls, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appealed to Muslims to pray for peaceful and transparent elections in Ghana this year as they celebrate their Eid-ul-Adha festival.

In a statement wishing Muslims in Ghana and across the world joyful Eid celebration today [Monday], Nana Akufo-Addo said “May we all take advantage of this month to pray for the success of our country and to pledge to do all in our power to contribute to the forward movement of Ghana, including our ability to sacrifice for the progress of our motherland.”

“We should pray also, in this election year, for credible, fair and transparent elections whose peaceful outcome will further consolidate the peace, unity and democracy of Ghana.”

The month of Zhul-Hijja, in which the Hajj and Eid activities take place, is one of Islam’s holiest months on the Islamic calendar.

The NPP flagbearer prayed that the spirit of sacrifice that inspired Prophet Ibrahim to accept God’s command to sacrifice his son Ishmael will continue to animate the activities and dealings of Ghanaians with one another as faithful of God and as citizens of Ghana.

“The Prophet Ibrahim is the father of all of us Christians, Jews and Muslims. I therefore pray for peace and unity between us as we reflect on the life of one of the most obedient servants of God. Once again I wish all Muslims a happy Eid celebration. Eid-ul Mubarak,” Nana Akufo-Addo concluded.
