The National Democratic Party (NDP) has given the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte Osei, a 48-hour ultimatum to rescind its decision to disqualify it or face its wrath.
“We are giving her 48 hours to rescind her decision or we’ll spill the beans,” the NDP’s Deputy Communications Director, Ernest Owusu Bempah warned.
His warning follows the disqualification of 12 presidential aspirants by the EC on Monday including the nominee of the NDP, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
Mr. Bempah said the decision by the EC was an affront to the country’s democracy. He alleged that the chair of the commission took the decision to disqualify them under duress as she is doing the bidding of her paymasters.
“… People sit down and clandestinely take decisions, push it to the Electoral Commission, and then that is it … because some paymasters sitting somewhere are giving her instructions as to how to run the Electoral Commission and that is what is happening today. It’s a shame to our democracy and Charlotte Osei should bow her head down in shame,” he told Class FM.
EC chair alien
Mr. Bempah, continued the Chair of the Commission is alien and that the NDP will not allow her to decide who the president of the country will be come January 7, 2017.
“We cannot sit in our country and allow aliens to come and decide for us who becomes the president of the republic of Ghana. We cannot sit in our country and allow foreigners to come and decide who the president of the republic of Ghana becomes. This is totally unacceptable and we are going to fight it,” he said angrily.
