New NTC Classroom Block Donated By Ho Central MP, Increases Enrollment By 32%

In line with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s Changing Lives, Transforming Ghana mantra, the Ho Central MP, Honourable Benjamin Komla Kpodo, has built and handed over a state of the art classroom complex, to facilitate effective teaching and learning, at the Ho Nurses Training College, in Ho, in the Volta Region.

According to the Principal of the Ho Nurses Training College, Mrs Josephine Ansu-Gyeabour, the building, which was commissioned over the weekend, at a colourful ceremony on the College’s premises, has increased student enrollment by 32%. She was grateful to the MP, for fulfilling a promise he made to the school, as most politicians promise, but never deliver. As a sign of the College’s gratitude to the MP, the new classroom block, has been christened Hon. (MP) Benjamin Komla Kpodo Block.

The Commissioning of the ultra modern classroom block, was graced by some Traditional rulers in the Region, notably the Chief of Dome, Torgbe Owusu XII, who Chaired the occasion. The Health Minister, Alex Segbefia, Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Honourable Francis Komla Ganyaglo, MP for Ho West, Honourable Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzrah, and other high profile personalities, graced the occasion.

The 400-seater state of the art classroom block, comprises 4 classrooms, a skills lab, a staff common room, a conference room, 5 offices, 2 stores and 24 washrooms.

The students of the Nursing Training College, could not hide their joy, as they were seen cheering on, as the MP, Honourable Benjamin Komla Kpodo, took to the podium, to deliver his address. In his speech, the MP noted that, the construction of the classroom block, fulfills in small measure, the clearly stated objectives of expanding access to education and training, as well as creating jobs for the youth, by the Government of Ghana, led by His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama. He added that, Education and Training at a professional and higher level, enhances opportunities for securing and maintaining a career or job, for life.

The MP also presented a cheque to the Principal, to support the educational and training expenditure, of some 16 students, of the College, who hail from his constituency.

The Minister of Health, Alex Segbefia and the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Francis Ganyaglo, both took turns, to congratulate the impressive effort of the MP, and reiterated the commitment of the NDC government, led by President John Mahama, to ensuring that, every Ghanaian gets his or her fair share of national development.

The Health Minister also pledged the commitment of government, to see to it that, the Ho Nurses Training College, gets a new bus as soon as practicable, to help convey students during their field work.
