The Obuasi Municipal Security Council is assuring mining giant Anglo Gold Ashanti of its commitment to protect the firm’s property and staff following the death of a senior official on Saturday.
John Owusu, who was the Corporate Communications Manager of Anglo Gold died after a company vehicle run over him, while he and other staff were running away from attacks by illegal miners.
According to the MCE of Obuasi, Kwasi Agyeman Ofori, more Police personnel have been deployed at various red spots identified to provide maximum security.
“Municipal Security Council and the contingent of the Policemen that we have detached there, have identified some red spots; there is a place called Y-Junction, Curve and abundant shaft called Odor” the MCE said on the XYZ breakfast show.
He assured the workers of Police presence in those areas to protect them from such attacks in the future.
