A former Minister of Communications in the erstwhile National Democratic Congress government, Dr Edward Omane Boamah has rubbished rumors of his intention to contest the 2020 elections under the umbrella of the NDC.
He has also described comments by Dr Owusu Mensah, a lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University Ghana as intellectually deficient.
Dr Owusu Mensah told Kumasi-based ABUSUA FM that the former Communications Minister is not politically mature to contest the highest office of the country and advised Dr Omane Boamah to shelve his political ambition for now.
The political science lecturer suggested that among the NDC top personalities, former National Organizer and Minister of Local Government, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo will be the best candidate to lead the NDC in 2020.
‘If I look at the list and caliber of people in the NDC, people who have experience and public trust in NDC, Ofosu Ampofo should be one of the crucial candidates for them.
I don’t want to comment so much on Omane Boamah because I don’t think he is qualified. I am not talking about age, but intellectually he is not qualified to be a President of Ghana.
There are so many candidates in line who they can look at their advantages and disadvantages, but Omane Boamah has not gotten to that level,’ he opined.
In a sharp response to those comments, Dr Omane Boamah wrote on his facebook wall:
Good morning Dr Owusu Mensah of the Political Science Department (UG). I am not interested in contesting for ‘President in 2020’. The reason is far from your procured and intellectually deficient submission. Read more…and help yourself…
