Heavy storm followed by torrential rains marred the dying moments of the campaign launch of Dr. Rahid Hassan Pelpuo, Member of Parliament and N.D.C Parliamentary Candidate for Wa Central few minutes after he (Dr. Rashid Pelpuo) climbed the stage to address the crowd.
Dr. Rashid who was brief said he expects the people of Wa Central to maintain him as their Member of Parliament with a resounding victory. The Minister of State in charge of Public-Private Partnership maintains his achievements are enough reasons to fix his buttocks onto the seat.
Three other persons who lost in last year’s November Primary of the N.D.C, Dr. Mohammed Mushaibu Alfa (Deputy Upper West Regional Minister), Mahama Iddrisu (former Upper West Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service) and Jamaldeen Kukura (Senior Lecturer, Tamale Polytechnic) who spoke to teeming supporters pledged their unflinching support to Dr. Rashid Pelpuo in his bid to win the seat a fourth time.
Dr. Alfa asked those of his supporters who voted for him during the primary to suppoer Dr. Rashid Pelpuo maintaining “there is neither Alfa faction nor Rashid’s faction. We all belong to the NDC.”
Deputy National Organiser of the party, Joshua Akamba said of Rashid Pelpuo, “this is a man I respect; this is a man with a heavy heart. I am very sure you people are not getting enough of him but I will explain. You have given birth to a son not for yourselves but for the whole nation.”
He said Rashid’s achievements and posture has made Wa Central a household name throughout the nation.
The N.D.C Deputy National Organiser took on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia by saying that Nana Addo, and not President Mahama is “incompetent”. According to him, it was because of Nana Addo’s incompetence that brought about him been reshuffled from the Foreign Affairs Ministry to Attorney General and Justice Ministry. He also added that it was because of Nana Addo’s incompetence that led to him being flawed by Tsatsu Tsikata in a couple of legal tussle between the duo.
This will be the fourth time Dr. Rashid Pelpuo is contesting the Wa Central seat having won and maintained the seat for the N.D.C since 2004.
