Member of Parliament for Subin, in The Ashanti Region, Isaac Osei, has called on Ghanaians to take personal safety very serious. He said, people are no longer safe in their homes let alone, outside their homes.
According to him, the recent attack on MP for Okere, Dan Botwe, who was robbed at gun point in his home, and the brutal attack and the killing of the late J.B. Danquah Adu, who was stabbed to death in his own home, have left him speechless.
Delivering a statement on the floor of Parliament, on the topic: Personal safety-a matter for all of us, The MP, noted that, people must feel free to go about their daily activities, without fear of being attacked by unscrupulous persons.
On highway robberies, The MP said, “ More recently in Sene District of Brong Ahafo Region, we received news reports of a Pastor and Catechist who were on a motorcycle on their way to church gunned down and killed in cold blood because they could not or did not stop at the robbers’ designated halting point”.
He concluded his statement by saying, “Personal safety is primarily a responsibility of the individual but there are national security implications which require a national response”.
