SNNIT donates to Blind Union

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust {SSNIT}, has donated a sum of Thirty Five Thousand Ghana Cedis to The Information Communication Technology Centre of The Ghana Blind Union to support Teaching and Learning at the facility.

According to The Acting Corporate Affairs Manager, Victory-Gifty Abaidoo, The Scheme was thrilled upon receiving the request, put before them by The Union.
She however, reckoned that, The Scheme saw the need in sponsoring The Union due to the fact that, SSNIT has become automated.

“It is really mind blowing for people with disability willing to work, so we were more than ready to come to their aid in terms of training, provisions of laptops etc” she stressed.
Receiving the donation, The Manager for the Ghana Material Resource Centre for the Disabled, Rev Peter Korley, remained thankful to The Scheme and recounted the challenges facing the Centre, amidst the successes chalked so far.
He added that,” your donation is going a long way to help the blind students, because today, you cannot do university education without a laptop, it just impossible.

And if sighted people would need computers to work, then blind people need it more. We need to push it to ensure that every blind student is computer literate”.

On his part, The President of the Ghana Blind Union, Dr. Peter Obeng-Asamoah, expressed his heart-felt appreciation to the Scheme and called on other Corporate Bodies to emulate The Scheme’s gesture.
