Suspected armed-robber electrocuted

A suspected armed-robber believed to be in his early twenties was electrocuted and died this dawn at Kings’ Cottage, an emerging community along the Accra-Tema motor-way. The incident is reported to have occurred this dawn at about 3 am.

The suspect’s name is still unknown. According to the Legon Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Belinda Banini, the alleged robber, was electrocuted and died, when he attempted to climb a high-tension electric pole. His aim was to plunge the entire area into a total blackout. This would have enabled him and his accomplices rob people of their wares and other valuables.

According to DSP Belinda Banini, that has been the modus operandi robbers often use to rob residents in that area.

She appealed to the general public to assist them in their investigations, which will lead to the arrest of the accomplices.

The body of the deceased is currently deposited at the police morgue.

According to the Managing Director of MD Estate, Alhaji Mohammed Daachi, who is also resident in the area, Kings’ Cottage, has been experiencing lots of robberies owing to their inability to form a watchdog committee.
