The Vice-President, Mr Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, has eulogised the virtues of the late Dr Mrs Mary Grant, describing her as a committed and dedicated person who served her nation with humility and diligence.
Auntie Mary, as she was affectionately called, according to the Vice-President, had contributed her quota to national development, and stressed that “we need to celebrate her achievements and give her a memorable send-off”.
Dr Grant was appointed in 1989 among the last batch of PNDC members until the country returned to constitutional rule in 1993. She was in charge of general affairs.
While with the PNDC, she held many positions, including Deputy Minister of Health, and later became the Minister of Education and Culture and a Member of the Council of State.
In 2012, she was honoured at the Ghana Women Awards, the premier awards ceremony aimed at celebrating the success of women of excellence in various facets of the society.
