WAPCO To Transport Refined Crude To W/A Countries

The challenge of inadequate gas to fuel energy generation in countries in Sub-Sahara Africa will soon be addressed with the construction of the world’s biggest refinery by 2019.

The project which is being undertaken by Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has the capacity to refine 650,000 barrels of oil per day and 3 billion standard cubic feet of gas daily.

This massive investment worth over 12 billion dollars is expected to feed Nigeria’s increasing demand for gasoline with excess to be exported to countries in the region.

Head of Communications at Dangote Group, Tony Chiejina said, the West Africa Gas Pipeline has already expressed interest in transporting the refined products.

“It’s mainly for export so that we can satisfy the local consumption and the rest we can export to other West African countries. Everybody is waiting and its indeed a great transformation and a sort of foreign exchange”.
